Talk cock
What do you do if your stomach tells you its hungry, but your heart is telling you that it doesn't feel like eating?
"IT'S AN AMAZING PLACE DOWNUNDER"...konon la...The place to me, its just okay. I think probably almost the same as the one in Singapore as far as I can remember. The first and the last time I went to the Singapore one, was almost a decade ago. So, not my place to judge. Anyway, I will still blog about it since I have got nothing else better to write about and I haven't been updating my blog for sometime. Clearly, many people have lost interest in stopping by, resulting in a lost of traffic! Don't like that...although my blog not interesting also, give it a click la...making me happy will not kill u!
So, the night before, I went to bed at 12.30am! Record time! Never gone to bed that early but I have to because I know there's a freaking 2 hour plus journey waiting for me tomorrow. Had to wake up early to catch the 8am train also. Otherwise the next train is at 10am. Thank god, the train station is just 2 streets away. :D So, we start the day with a sleepy shot at the train station!

And off we went on a 1.5 hour journey on train and 0.5 hour journey on bus to Underwater World which is in the 17th zone! The furthest I have went so far was 14 zones down south. Didn't expect to go 17 zones on my first time traveling North. We reached approximately at 10am, 1 hour after the opening hour. One glance at the place, its less impressive. No wonder most of them are not aware of this place. And to those who are not familiar with Brisbane, practically, Brisbane is like Malacca, Gold Coast(Surfers Paradise, MovieWorld, DreamWorld, SeaWorld, etc) is towards south (e.g JB) and Sunshine Coast (where Steve Irwin Zoo and this Underwater World is) is actually at the North (eg KL).
We paid 16aud per person which is at children's price. Seriously, if you have to pay 19aud (Student concession), the trip is still worthwhile and if you have to pay 26.90(Adult), I think its not worth the trip. But all ticket purchase comes with a Underwater world tattoo.
Enables us to leave the premise and come back later
Hm, so got what thing at inside leh?
Got murderer, StingRay, although these are much more friendly. They keep on swim up the enclosure and flap their watsoeva it is called. Too bad, there's a sign that says "Don't Touch The Animals". So near yet so far.
On the bright side, manage to touch some sea creatures that I have never touched before in my life.
I actually thought starfish is soft but it is hard. Never seen such sea cucumber as well. I have only ate those black in colour ones
Sea urchin. Non poisonous one I think. Felt like ceramic. Dunno is real or bluff one. Ha ha
Then they have a unique aquarium. The car aquarium.
Or the gigantic aquarium with a sofa facing it. I'm so gonna get one of those in my house in the future!
Fish surely got lor. Quite a lot of fish. I didn't bother to find out its name la. I don't really like fishes but coming across unique fishes is really interesting.
Got crab lor. Big crab, small crab, both also got.
I've seen these huge crabs in restaurants around chinatown. I always thought it was fake because it really look fake and they only had one in an aquarium of fishes. I thought it was for decoration. Argued with Jaecy about it. Came back 2 hours later and saw it walking around. -.-". OWNED!
Got crab, surely got prawns. And like the crabs, got big and small prawns also.
Some animals, you are not able to find it under the sea, but it is on display there.
Got some animals that you can find on land, you can also find in the sea. For example, on land u can find horse, so in the sea you can find?
Seahorse!
On land you can find dragon (can ah?), so in the sea you can find?
Seadragon! I saw this before in Singapore's
The only show that they have there was performed by seals. The rest were just talks. It is very educational I must say. But I prefer some performance or handling! Or at least let me touch those cute otters!
As for the seals, I have recorded part of the show. There 2 shows actually. One was a display of their skills while the other was an exposure on how they trained the seals etc. If it wasn't for that show, I would still be believing that seals can actually be trained to balance a ball! I know I'm a jakun. But if you're a jakun like me, find out how they actually balance the ball.
They are using their whiskers! Yes, they can control the movement of their whiskers and it is actually strong enough to hold the ball. I have also put up some videos of the seal performance.
I reckon that the seal was one of the main attraction here. But I wasn't there for the seal. I was there to see the Giant Squid that was on display in Melbourne last year. I was expecting something larger and more scary, but well, this is big enough for a squid. It wasn't large but it was long enough that the aquarium will not fit. Look at the head, it was kinda folded and not flatten out. Also the tentacles, you'll see it wrapping over, back to the head. Imagine if its stretched out, it should be close to 15metres long!
Scary but awesome at the same time. There are also 2 other animals that I felt was awesome! The saw fish and the dunno-wat-name animal!
I actually got a chance to see the saw fish from the top of the aquarium and the attendant was feeding it. Its really scary I tell you. I felt like I was looking at a dinosaur fish. I pity the other fishes that had to live in the same aquarium as it.
I dunno what is its name but i remember something like "Dunno-wat walking fish". Walking fish? So now you know that fishes can walk, the next time someone marks you wrong for saying that the fish was walking rather than swimming, you can screw the hell out of him/her.
The rest are shorts that I took in the underwater tunnel. I can tell why the Sharks are a main attraction. They have really huge sharks! Not kidding. Gigantic ones. To add to the scare, we are seeing, is actually reduced 30% of its actual size because of the thickness of the glass. I bet those divers almost pissed in their suits!
Apart from all the fishy stuff, they had a dinosaur world also. Basically, its just some dinosaur figures that move and make weird sounds. Why weird you ask? We all watched Jurassic Park and know how dinosaur sounds like. Unfortunately, the staff at Underwater world didn't. So their dinosaurs sounded like goats. LOL...
We attended the tours that were available most of the time. Tours could be boring, but not here! Because the children here are so outspoken. They are so daring to ask & answer questions, speak their mind and communicate with the tour guide. Once, a tour guide said "The dinosaur wasn't the largest animal on earth. Can anybody tell me what's the largest animal on earth?"...A kid shouted "A giraffe"...LOL...I laughed myself to death. Way to go, Australia education....hehe
With that, we are done with Underwater World. Oh, I forgotten to talk about our lunch. Since the theme for today was fish, we decided to have fish and chips and calamari rings. :P
Did you guys notice that there was one animal that I think should be there, that wasn't there? Yes! The octopus! How come there's no octopus? I don't know. But I did manage to find a few. More in Jaecy's blog.
Got hermit also!
So, we're practically done with Underwater World and decided to go home. Guess what, its only 4pm and the next bus is at 5.30pm. Did we missed the earlier bus? NO! The earlier bus was 2.30pm! That's like 3 hours for the next bus? OMG...what a screwed up place! I cannot imagine what will happen if we missed the 5.30 bus. Since there's some extra time, we decided to walk around The Wharf which is in the vicinity of Underwater World.
I thought of getting a boat like this in the future
I really love places like this and I dream to own one of them. As in, I plan to get a house by the river which has my own private dock for me to park my double deck boat, like those rich Aussie people. If only the boat and the house at the background belongs to me.
Well thats a dream and a target. I shall work hard for it, I thought...until I saw some advertisements of boats on sale. Guess how much one of those boats I wanted costs? 590 000 aud! Thats even more expensive than getting an apartment here! That advertisement totally slap me out of my dreams...The reality is, I probably can only afford going on a cruise such as this..
Reads Canal Cruise not Anal Cruise
I'll sum up this post with a camwhore pic!
Long enough? I guess this post is enough to make it up to you guys for not blogging for some time. Rite? :D Sorry bout having mostly videos and poor pictures. Its cos the place was dark and pictures are not good under low light. Thanks to my digicam, AGAIN!
