Talk cock

What do you do if your stomach tells you its hungry, but your heart is telling you that it doesn't feel like eating?

Woke up early morning, read the papers. Yeap, there it is. But no RM50. -.-" Disappointed I lost to a "Leg". Well, nevermind.

Afternoon, moved on to the usual egg tart baking session. Didn't wanna give up before I can make proper edible tarts. Well, compare to the previous one, this is much more improved. Used evaporated full cream milk instead of condensed milk this time. I guess it is the right one because the filling is much more closer to the actual tarts. However, forgotten that evaporated milks aren't sweet and so the tart didn't taste sweet. Also learn to remove the foam before pouring the filling into the pastry. This will give the tarts a smooth complexion unlike the previous one. Added some strokes on the top of the pastry giving it some nicer look. Baked the pastry first before pouring the filling into it and then bake again. Overall, its an improved version of the previous one but still below satisfactory. The pastry has some weird smell to it. I wonder if I used something wrongly. In the menu, its says lard. I assume that is oil and I used canola oil. I wonder if thats the problem.... This is why I hate menus. Some of them are too vague. Just like it says milk. How the F do I know wat milk? So I went on to guess its condensed milk previously. I'm glad that evaporated milk was the one, else I might go on to try "Human Milk".

Night time, went to watch Deja vu with darling. Won't say its a lame movie, and I won't say its a nice movie either. But it was okay. The concepts are easy to understand, though I have heard of that theory in one of the "Cerita Panjang Doraemon". That concludes today.

Lard is pig oil. Don't know where to buy it, but if you want to make it yourself:

    1. Buy solid pig fat from market
    2. put in hot kuali. No need for oil
    3. wait until the pig fat becomes crispy and the oil melts out. the crispy pig fat can then be used in char kuey teow!

Obviously the egg tart will become non-halal. I'm sure there's a halal version somewhere...
